Our standard

The H1 rules assess centering, corners, edges and surface on both sides. The weaker side determines each category score; weaknesses and documented damage limit the final grade. No score is assigned by default – every number is justified.

• CenteringThree measurements per side. Both axes. The least favourable ratio counts.
• CornersEvery corner is checked for shape, wear and visible damage.
• EdgesEdge alignment, chipping and material loss are assessed individually.
• SurfaceSurface, print quality and damage are documented in the report.

Grading scale

The scale runs from 1 to 10 in half-point steps. The final grade is derived from the four category scores: it can be at most 0.5 points above the weakest category and is then rounded down to the nearest half point. Documented damage imposes a cap.

Every report openly shows the mean, weakest category and damage cap, making the final grade traceable.
